Maria was born in 1975 in Thessaloniki, Greece and grew-up in Florina a city with a great artistic tradition. Currently, she lives and creates in Brussels, Belgium.
She studied Fine Arts in Great Britain at the University of Central Lancashire and graduated in 1998. She is a holder of an B.A. (Honours) FINE ART degree.
Areas of interest in her work include: the human body, children’s fairytales, moon, and trees.
Since 1998 she has held numerous personal exhibitions in Greece and Belgium, such asGallery ‘‘Art Beat’’ – Brussels Belgium, European Commission Brussels Belgium, Art café “Tsagieri1929” – Florina Greece,and participated in many group exhibitions in Greece, Belgium, Turkey and Great Britain, such as Gallery “Theorema” – Brussels Belgium, Gallery “Art 4 You ” – Brussels Belgium, Museum of Contemporary Art – Florina Greece, Gallery “Art Base” – Brussels Belgium,Gallery “Ichnilaton” – Thessaloniki Greece,Sismanoglio Foundation – Istanbul Turkey, Gallery“Armos” – Serres Greece, Artistic Caravan from Macedonia to Thrace – Greece, Gallery “Lava”-Thessaloniki Greece, University of Central Lancashire – Preston Great Britain.
She is member of API (Art Perspectives International), and of SKETBE (Association Artist’s Fine Art of North Greece).
Critique on her artwork has been written by art historians, Despina Eythymiou and Maria Kenanidou.
In 2009, Maria Chatzilampou edited an art book for children entitled “The walk of a line”.
Maria’s work can be found in the Museum ofContemporary Art in Florina, Greece, at the Municipal Centre of the Association of Mayors and Municipalities in Florina, Greece, at the Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace, Greece, at the European Commission and in private collections.
